God is three... and God is one...

a response by a group of under 5s to a presentation on the Trinity

I used a simplified version of the Trinity Presentation and changed some of the readings and pictures to make them more appropriate for under 5s.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (God the Father).

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life" (God the Son).

"The Spirit will come to be your helper" (God the Holy Spirit).

I added a bit about mystery and the Trinity and sprinkled the stars as I said God is love and life, joy and hope, forgiveness and healing. Then the children sprinkled some more stars where they wanted to.

I wonder which bit you liked the best?

Their favourite bits were all symbols, mainly the baby and the hand and the cross.

I wonder which bit you thought the most important?

One child said the cross, and put it in the middle. "Because God sent Jesus to die for us, and the Spirit came after him to help us when he had gone to heaven."

I wonder if you are in the story?

The children used the wooden people to place themselves in the story.

They chose to add something to the story from an area with symbols of the Trinity (globes, doves, rainbows etc).
