A confession for Christ the King Sunday

(During the hymn the children looped a long rope around the chairs/altar to encircle the congregation)

Leader:

It is time to confess our sins. During the hymn a long rope was wrapped around the church, as a sign of Christ's love surrounding us all.

Everyone should have a piece of red wool, to represent the things we would like to say sorry for. Perhaps you would like to tie the piece of red wool to the rope as a symbol of your penitence, and then (Child's name) will read the confession prayer.

Child:

Heavenly Father, thank you that you love us and care for us all the time.
We know that this week we have not always lived the way you tell us.
We have done wrong things and not done all the things we should have done.
Only you can save us, so please forgive us and help us to live as your friends.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and King.

All:

Forgive us and help us.

Leader:

May God our Father gather us back to himself, forgive us our sins, and encircle us in his eternal love in Jesus Christ our Lord and King.

All:

Amen.
