The Lord's Prayer

We used this activity during an All Age Service.

Each person was given a piece of card with a phrase from the Lord's Prayer written on it. They were then asked to choose somewhere in the church to place their card.

As well, we gave each child a phrase from the Lord's Prayer and invited them to use either the art materials or the 3D materials to illustrate it. The children were aged 3 - 11 and all chose to work with the 3D materials.

Our Father...

This was placed by our statue of St Nicholas and the children.

Our Father...

who art in heaven...

a response by the children

Hallowed be thy name...

a response by the children

The tiny figures on each side of the wooden figure are lambs.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done...

on earth as it is in heaven...

This was placed high up on a memorial to Alice Bennett, which included these verses:

Sweet emblem of my love
The storm thy stalk hath riven
This difference yet thy fate's between
She blooms again in heaven

Too bright, too good for earthly sorrow,
Her God, his own hath taken
Oh! may we from his mercy borrow
Some balm our woe to lighten

She's taken from the ill to come,
And this our hope is given,
That if we fail not as we run,
We meet again in heaven

on earth as it is in heaven...

a response by the children

Give us this day our daily bread...

This was placed on the altar.

Give us this day our daily bread...

a response by the children

and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us...

Lead us not into temptation...

Placed on the the main door of the church.

Lead us not into temptation...

a response by the children

But deliver us from evil...

a response by the children

The way to evil has been blocked by stones

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. Amen

Sarah
